ABOUT THE TRAINING
This is a moderate to advanced level training. This means you should be familiar with basic practices in forensic assessment and already have written some reports for the Court.
Students will explore traditional models of report writing, and where research points us toward improvement. We will look within and outside of the field of psychology to learn more about how people learn and digest dense information, and we will apply these tenants to the primary consumers of forensic reports – judges and attorneys..
We will then thoroughly examine two primary areas for substantive changes in your report methods and practices: structure, and presentation
Students leave the course with practical suggestions for improving the content, flow, and narrative of forensic reports. They also receive a suggested report template, (fictional) report samples, an infographic for encouraging the principles learned in the training, and a full reference list for defending your methods in testimony.
